OUR SERVICES
about the food bank
The Village Food Bank is an emerging initiative for low-income LGBTQ+ people in Brighton and Hove to access food, toiletries and other essential items in a welcoming and affirming community space. The project was inspired by the founder, Reuben Davidson's, experience of referring LGBTQ+ people to existing food banks in Brighton, with the vast majority being run from settings that either feel inaccessible and unwelcoming to LGBTQ+ people or are at capacity.
WHAT WE OFFER!
Food, toiletries, clothes and other essentials
Access to information and professional advice
A relaxing atmosphere with a community table!
What you would normally expect from a food bank! We also try to meet the needs of our members by stocking allergen-free foods, ready meals and products for babies, toddlers and people with pets! Personal shoppers are available if you need help navigating the foodbank.
You'll find LGBTQ+ affirming community available in the same space as the food bank, such as benefits/housing advice, local community and health services in a relaxed, one-stop-shop afternoon. Whenever possible, we try to invite a rotation of visitors to every session for members to talk to (e.g. Citizens Advice or Trenbi Football Club).
Our community table is available to everyone! Either play a game, do a puzzle or have a chat over free hot drinks and snacks. There is always a friendly volunteer at the table who is happy to talk and address any needs. We also have free wifi and a spot to charge any devices!

You can also meet Luna the staffie!
